# Chiranjeevi 71st birthday: Mega stars, directors pay tribute 2026-08-22T05:37:42+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet (16 source reports) Megastar Chiranjeevi celebrated his 71st birthday on August 22 in Hyderabad, with a grand event attended by film industry figures, directors, and fans. The event featured speeches from director Bobby, actor and producer Bandla Ganesh, writer-director BVS Ravi, and actor Hyper Aadi, all of whom praised Chiranjeevi's character, generosity, and impact on Telugu cinema. Director Bobby announced details of Chiranjeevi's 158th film, tentatively titled #Mega158, revealing that the story combines the soul of classic films 'Rudraveena', 'Swayam Krushi', and 'Apadbandhavudu' with a commercial mass angle. He challenged fans to 'write it down', expressing confidence in the film's box office performance. Director Vashisht, who is making 'Vishwambhara' with Chiranjeevi, promised the film will break box office records despite delays. Several speakers addressed social media trolls and negative comments about Chiranjeevi. BVS Ravi used the analogy 'When an elephant walks, dogs bark' to dismiss critics, while Hyper Aadi countered claims that Chiranjeevi had suppressed others, stating that he had crushed egos and created opportunities. Bandla Ganesh emotionally recalled Chiranjeevi's personal kindness, including visiting him when he was building his house and caring for his mother. Producer SKN posted a birthday message calling Chiranjeevi 'the only megastar' and 'my god, my inspiration, my oxygen'. The event also saw updates on other projects, including 'Spirit' and 'Toxic', and news of a missing Indian man in Dallas being found safe. On the political front, a report highlighted that the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are likely to be held in February-March 2027, with the BJP, SP, Congress, and BSP preparing strategies. In Telangana, the Hyderabad High Court stayed the implementation of the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, citing a lack of legislative backing and financial concerns. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar assured the scheme will continue. Additionally, a report noted that smartphone technology can now detect earthquakes using built-in accelerometers, turning phones into a global seismic network that can send early warnings. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The coverage is uniformly adulatory, with no critical voices regarding Chiranjeevi. All 11 sources dedicated to his birthday present a fan-centric, event-reporting perspective, focusing on the emotional speeches of directors and actors. The common framing is that Chiranjeevi's character and success are beyond reproach, and that online trolls are insignificant. There is no alternative view or any mention of controversy beyond the trolls. The measured takeaway is that this was a well-orchestrated celebration aimed at reinforcing his iconic status and generating hype for upcoming films. Watch for the release dates of #Mega158 and Vishwambhara, and whether the promises made at the event translate into box office performance. ## Coverage Coverage: 16 sources, 8 pro-government, 1 government-critical, 3 neutral, 4 sensationalist - tupaki.com (pro government) Frames Chiranjeevi as supremely generous and cultured, dismissing all criticism - tupaki.com (2) (sensationalist) Leads with dramatic tragedy of iPhone dispute, moral panic tone - tupaki.com (3) (pro government) Frames trolls as insignificant, Chiranjeevi's position unassailable - tupaki.com (4) (sensationalist) Frames debate as viral spectacle, focuses on TRP and memes - tupaki.com (5) (pro government) Frames #Mega158 as a historic challenge, cites Pawan Kalyan's direction - tupaki.com (6) (sensationalist) Frames dispute over Deepika Padukone's exit as hot topic, speculation on her response - tupaki.com (7) (pro government) Frames Hyper Aadi's speech as mass counter to trolls, defends Chiranjeevi - tupaki.com (8) (pro government) Frames Bandla Ganesh's speech as emotional tribute, counters 'trampling' allegations - tupaki.com (9) (pro government) Frames Vashisht's promise as confident, dismisses delays and trolls - tupaki.com (10) (sensationalist) Frames casting twist as exciting, focuses on Nayanthara replacing Kareena - tupaki.com (11) (neutral report) Straight report on UP election preparations, no editorial slant - tupaki.com (12) (government critical) Frames Kalyana Lakshmi scheme as legally and financially troubled, court criticism - tupaki.com (13) (neutral report) Explains earthquake detection tech, no political or emotional framing - tupaki.com (14) (neutral report) Straight report on missing person found safe, community help highlighted - tupaki.com (15) (pro government) Frames SKN's post as devotional, Chiranjeevi as god and inspiration - tupaki.com (16) (pro government) Frames Chiranjeevi as redefining hero, pop culture icon narrative This story was synthesised by AI from the 16 sources linked above.
