# CJP spokesperson Saurav Das alleges police harassment; force calls visit routine

Two plain-clothes policemen from Puducherry’s Special Branch visited the family home of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Wednesday evening and questioned his mother for 15-20 minutes, Das alleged. In posts on X, Das accused the BJP government in Puducherry of intimidation and said the visit happened shortly after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent trip to the territory. Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) R Kalaivanan told TNIE the visit was part of routine Independence Day security checks. He said houses, homestays and lodges near the Beach Road celebration venue are being randomly searched by teams of two or three personnel in plain clothes. Das said no prior notice was given and that the action would not silence him.
