A Class 5 student, Manvith, averted a serious accident at a government school in Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday. A midday meal worker's finger got caught in an electric coconut-grating machine at the Narikombu school. Manvith, playing nearby, heard her screams, rushed over, and switched off the power supply. Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar praised the boy on social media for his alertness and courage, saying his quick thinking saved the worker's finger. Education officials and school committee members also commended Manvith.
