The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government signed 97 memoranda of understanding worth over Rs 67,542 crore at its first investment conclave in Chennai on Thursday. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the event. Industries Minister S. Keerthana said cumulative investment commitments in the first 100 days have crossed Rs 1 lakh crore, capable of generating more than 1.2 lakh jobs. Projects are expected to be grounded within six months to one year, according to Industries Secretary S. Vijayakumar. The Hindu reports that 25 companies are entering Tamil Nadu for the first time. Major investments include Rs 2,500 crore from Hinduja Group in renewable energy and electric mobility, and Rs 1,000 crore from Phoenix Kothari Footwear in Ramanathapuram, the district's first major industrial investment.
