The project, supported by the district administration and a corporate CSR initiative, aims to restore the lakes' biodiversity. Dr Kannan CS Warrier of the Kerala Forest Research Institute, which provided the saplings, said bamboo also improves oxygen generation, reduces greenhouse gases, and can be used for sustainable architecture and ethanol production.
