# Congress leader David D’Souza shot dead in Karnataka’s Udupi

David D'Souza, a local Congress leader and former panchayat president, was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in Padubidri, Udupi district, on Friday. Police said the attackers arrived in a vehicle and opened fire, injuring D'Souza critically. He died while being taken to hospital. D'Souza had been convicted in the suicide case of Rev Fr Mahesh, an assistant priest at a local church, and served a jail term, Times Now reports.
