Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Saturday announced that if elected, the party will provide legally sourced sand free of cost for genuine household and public construction under the “Punjab Da Ret Haq Scheme”. Warring said the scheme aims to cut construction costs for ordinary Punjabis and boost employment. He clarified that it does not mean unrestricted sand mining, and that the environment will be protected. Warring attacked the AAP government for treating sand as a revenue source, saying Congress sees it as a resource for people’s welfare. The scheme will be run through a transparent, technology-driven system to prevent misuse, Hindustan Times reports.
