On August 8, Bibinagar police and the Special Operation Team arrested four people and recovered 27 kg of mephedrone valued at Rs 54 crore from a laboratory in Kondamadugu village. The drug was being transported to Nagpur. The accused include a coal businessman from Nagpur who allegedly financed the operation and an employee of Vetukuri Labs. Four more suspects are absconding. Separately, over the past fortnight, Bengaluru Police arrested 39 suspects, including eight foreigners, and seized drugs with an open market value of Rs 55.80 crore. The haul included 21.6 kg of MDMA, 738 grams of cocaine, over 184 kg of ganja, and cash. The Deccan Herald reports that the suspects confessed to buying narcotics from unidentified suppliers abroad and selling them to the public and college students.
