# Cosmos cum Lekie Cai Festival opens in Peletkie village 2026-10-10T22:06:10+00:00 | India | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets The second edition of the 11-day Cosmos (Nraipa) cum Lekie Cai Festival began at Peletkie village in Peren district on 10 October, with organisers expecting a large turnout over its run until 20 October. The festival is organised by Lekie Mtei Nko (LMN), the apex body of the three sister villages of Peletkie, Deukwaram and Lekieram. Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, attended as the special guest on behalf of the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland for Planning & Transformation and National Highways. Meru lauded the organising committee for the live demonstration of traditional salt preparation and urged the younger generation to preserve indigenous heritage. He noted that Peletkie had gained wider recognition since 2025 by using social media to promote its cosmos plantations. Meru also encouraged the community to pursue a geo-tag (Morung Express) or GI registration (Nagaland Tribune) for the local traditional salt to enhance its market potential. He urged youth to embrace entrepreneurship, observing that government employment opportunities had reached saturation. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both Morung Express and Nagaland Tribune offer near-identical straight reporting of the festival's opening day, quoting Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru on heritage preservation, traditional salt-making and digital outreach. The only factual difference is the product designation: Morung Express reports Meru advising a 'geo-tag' while Nagaland Tribune reports him urging 'GI registration'. This minor variance aside, the coverage is uniform wire-copy style with no editorial slant. The consistent emphasis on administrative support and youth entrepreneurship reflects the content of the official address, not a framing choice by either outlet. The festival runs until 20 October. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - morungexpress.com (neutral report) Straight reporting of festival events with quotes from official. - nagalandtribune.in (neutral report) Straight reporting of festival events with quotes from official.
