Nigel Farage has won the Clacton by-election he triggered in July, securing 22,239 votes (63%) against 33 other candidates. Count Binface, a comedian who wears a bin on his head, finished second with 9,455 votes (27%). The major UK parties boycotted the election, calling it a farce designed to help Farage evade a parliamentary standards investigation. Turnout was 44.4%, sharply down from 58.7% in 2024. The probe, which was paused after Farage resigned, has now restarted. It concerns an undeclared £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. Farage denies wrongdoing.
