# 17 booked for attacking men moving police-seized cattle in Ramban

Jammu and Kashmir police have filed an FIR against 17 cow vigilantes for allegedly attacking four men who were transporting police-seized bovine animals in Ramban district on August 4. The victims, including Shakeel Ahmad, were moving 23 animals on foot when a group armed with sticks assaulted them near Bilawat village. One worker, Gafoor, suffered serious injuries. Police said the attackers snatched phones and left the victims unconscious. This is the second such incident in Ramban in five months; in April, Tanveer Ahmad Chopan died after jumping into a stream to flee a similar attack.
