A Jetstar A320 and a Qatar Airways Boeing 777 narrowly avoided a collision on the tarmac at Sydney Airport on Sunday (August 10, 2026). The Jetstar pilot applied sudden brakes as it taxied for takeoff to the Gold Coast. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has begun an investigation into the incident, which left a Jetstar crew member injured and damaged the Qatar jet’s nose gear connection. Airservices Australia imposed departure spacing after the near-miss. The incident followed a day of widespread delays at the same airport caused by ‘roster constraints’ among air traffic controllers, The Hindu reports. The ATSB has not yet assigned blame.
