Atletico Madrid have signed Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported fee of 40 million euros, including add-ons, Sportstar reports. The club said Romero has signed a contract until June 30, 2031. Romero, 28, left Tottenham after five years and 156 appearances. He helped Spurs win the 2025 Europa League, ending their 17-year trophy drought, and was named man of the match in the final. NDTV reports the fee as 40 million euros, or £34.1 million. Atletico described Romero as their fourth summer signing, following Alejandro Grimaldo, Kang-in Lee and Morten Hjulmand.
