# CSK part ways with batting coach Michael Hussey ahead of IPL 2027 2026-10-10T07:57:51+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Chennai Super Kings have parted ways with batting coach Michael Hussey ahead of the IPL 2027 season, according to reports cited by ABP Live and News9. Hussey joined CSK as a player in 2008, returned in 2015 after a season with Mumbai Indians, and became batting coach in 2018. NDTV says his association with the franchise lasted more than 15 years and included five IPL titles. The move follows Zaheer Khan replacing Stephen Fleming as head coach and Mohit Sharma replacing Eric Simons as bowling coach. News9 reports that CSK has not decided Hussey’s replacement. It says decisions on the remaining coaching positions will be taken after owner Rupa Gurunath returns to India from South Africa, with Zaheer and MS Dhoni also to be consulted. ABP Live reports that Hussey could join Fleming’s England Test coaching staff, while News9 says he has contacted other IPL franchises. ## Indian Opinion Analysis NDTV leads with the end of a long association, while ABP Live frames the change as part of a wider reset and gives space to the possibility of Hussey joining England’s staff. News9 presents the move as part of a restructuring exercise and supplies the clearest account of what happens next, including the undecided replacement. ABP Live’s England angle is explicitly speculative, whereas News9 also records the possibility of another IPL role. The reports agree on Hussey’s departure and the coaching changes, but leave his next appointment unresolved. CSK’s remaining coaching decisions are to follow Rupa Gurunath’s return, with Zaheer Khan and MS Dhoni to be consulted. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 1 neutral, 2 sensationalist - ndtv.com (sensationalist) Leads with ‘another big change’ and gives limited supporting detail - abplive.com (sensationalist) Frames the change as a reset and foregrounds speculative England move - news9live.com (neutral report) Reports the restructuring and identifies the pending replacement decision This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
