# CSK part ways with Michael Hussey, other coaching staff 2026-10-26T16:06:21+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have confirmed the departure of batting coach Michael Hussey, bowling consultant Eric Simons, and fielding coach Rajiv Kumar. Hussey had been with the franchise as a player from 2008 and as part of the coaching staff since 2018. He scored a century in CSK's first-ever IPL match in 2008 and was part of three IPL titles as a coach. The exits follow the appointment of Zaheer Khan as head coach, replacing Stephen Fleming. The Indian Express reports that Simons had already left before the announcement on Thursday, 22 October, and is expected to join Fleming in the England Test setup. The Indian Express also says Fleming had offered Hussey a role with England, but Hussey declined. CSK posted statements on social media thanking each of the three men for their service. The departures come ahead of the 2027 IPL season and the impending auction. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both sources report the same departures from CSK's coaching staff, but the Indian Express adds context absent from Times Now: it notes that Eric Simons had already left before the official announcement, that he is expected to join Stephen Fleming in the England setup, and that Fleming offered Hussey a role with England which Hussey declined. Times Now carries only the franchise statements without those additional details. The coverage is otherwise uniform straight reporting. The next concrete point to watch is the composition of Zaheer Khan's new support staff ahead of the 2027 IPL auction. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - timesnownews.com (neutral report) Straight reporting of CSK's statements, no added context - indianexpress.com (neutral report) Straight reporting with additional context about Simons and Fleming This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
