The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Wednesday cleared the Master Plan for Delhi-2047, bringing sweeping changes to the city’s development framework. The plan divides the Yamuna floodplain into O-1 (core, no construction) and O-2 (outer buffer, regulated recreational activities), a departure from the earlier blanket protection. It also allows a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 200 under the Land Pooling Policy, with the minimum sector size reduced to 20 hectares. Separately, the DDA approved a policy to let owners redevelop two-storey dwelling units in old housing schemes like Naraina Vihar and Lajpat Nagar. A new Green Development Area framework will open 70 peripheral villages to regulated commercial and institutional use. The plan, to be sent to the housing ministry, targets a projected population of 3 crore by 2047.
