Bedi told Vickey Lalwani that she, Tijori, and Ayesha Jhulka stepped in after the film was partly shot with Soman. Tijori told Bollywood Bubble that he had been rejected earlier but was called back after Mansoor Khan and producer Nasir Hussain faced a stalled project. At the film's 30th anniversary in 2022, Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan told Tijori that the production had shut down and Mansoor went into depression, believing he had wasted his father's money.
