A Delhi consumer commission has held Jaguar Land Rover India and its dealer guilty of deficiency in service after a new luxury SUV developed multiple defects within weeks of purchase. The commission directed the manufacturer and dealer to replace the vehicle or refund Rs 1.57 crore. Fena Pvt Ltd had booked the vehicle in early 2023 but received it only in November after a nine-month delay. The commission noted that the vehicle, driven only about 800 km, repeatedly showed engine misfiring and came to a halt. Despite warranty repairs, problems persisted. The panel rejected arguments that the company could not be treated as a consumer and that the manufacturer was not liable because the vehicle was bought through a dealer.
