# Delhi Police detain major drug trafficker, bust Indo-Nepal syndicate

Delhi Police detained Dharamveer Singh, 51, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act for his repeated involvement in drug trafficking. Singh faces nine criminal cases, including a 2022 attack on a police team that left two people injured and four police personnel hurt. He is being moved to Chennai's Puzhal central jail. Separately, the South District Special Staff dismantled an Indo-Nepal drug syndicate, seizing 106.25 kg of charas valued at about Rs 109 crore. Four Nepalese nationals, Bharat Thapa, Govind Budha, Jyoti Pun Magar, and Roshni Magar, were arrested. The syndicate allegedly smuggled charas via road from the Sonauli border and used digital payments and social media for coordination. Police recovered 97.65 kg of charas from a Wazirabad storage point on August 12.
