Saxena on Tuesday handed enrolment letters to 1,669 recruits from a 10,000-post recruitment drive launched in January. The recruits include 226 former civil defence volunteers who worked as bus marshals and 181 women. The LG had cleared enrolment for 10,285 posts, but appointments to 7,939 posts are pending after applicants approached the Delhi High Court and secured a status quo order. Of 2,346 candidates cleared for appointment, 1,669 passed medical tests.
