# Delhi University drops Delhi Sultanate paper from MA History syllabus

The University of Delhi has removed the specialised paper ‘The Delhi Sultanate: Structures of Authority in Medieval North India (13th, 14th Centuries)’ from the newly notified MA History syllabus for Semester III, notified on August 7. The paper had been a core course for decades. The History Department had proposed 38 Discipline Specific Elective papers, but only 16 were included in the final notification. Other omitted papers include ‘Gender and Women in Early India’ and ‘Political Processes in Ancient India’. The Dean of Academic Affairs said an expert committee reviewed the courses, and none were held back.
