# Delhi: Drunk driving suspected after Mercedes kills woman, 70

A 70-year-old woman was killed in Delhi's Narela on Saturday morning after a Mercedes and a WagonR collided head-on. The accident occurred around 8 am near Himalayas Apartment in Mamurpur. The impact pushed the WagonR into a parked three-wheeler loading van. The victim, Urmila, a local resident, was caught between the vehicles and died on the spot, police said. The WagonR driver suffered minor injuries. The Mercedes driver, identified by NDTV and Times Now as Shubham, the son of a Haryana Police sub-inspector, was arrested at the scene. Eyewitnesses alleged he was drunk and speeding. A beer bottle was reportedly seen inside the car, which NDTV says was borrowed from a friend. Police have sent him for a medical examination and await the report to confirm if he was under the influence. A case of death by negligence is being registered.
