The team was led by recurve star Dhiraj Bommadevara, who shot 79 out of 80 in the title clash and was named male recurve archer of the day and of the tournament. The Marathas bounced back from a defeat against the Knights in the first qualifier earlier on Sunday. Dutch archer Mike Schloesser, nicknamed 'Mr Perfect', scored a perfect 80 out of 80 in the final. The Marathas also made tactical substitutions, replacing Aman Saini with Schloesser and Alejandra Valencia with Simranjeet Kaur. Dhiraj described his recent form as 'so good, so strong'. In September 2026, he won gold at the World Cup Final in Saltillo, Mexico, and two silver medals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, where he also set a qualification round record of 698. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Hindustan Times focuses on Dhiraj Bommadevara's personal journey and his emerging role as a senior figure in Indian recurve archery, highlighting his advice to younger teammates and his relationship with Korean coach Kim Hag Yong. Business Standard, using a syndicated feed, reports the APL final as a match narrative, emphasising team tactics and scores. Both outlets present the same results factually, Hindustan Times adds depth with Dhiraj's quotes on team atmosphere and his statesman status, while Business Standard sticks to the on-field action and substitution decisions. The coverage is uniformly celebratory of the archer's achievement, with Hindustan Times providing a broader character portrait beyond the tournament result. The APL final victory capped a strong month for Dhiraj, who also won World Cup Final gold and two Asian Games silvers in September 2026. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - hindustantimes.com (neutral report) Focuses on athlete profile and team atmosphere, no government angle - business-standard.com (neutral report) Match report with tactical details, wire copy style This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
