# Drunk constable slaps on-duty cop in Warangal, video goes viral 2026-08-22T19:26:17+00:00 | India | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet A video showing two Telangana police constables slapping each other in Warangal district has gone viral. The incident occurred on August 19, when a constable from the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP), allegedly drunk, was creating a nuisance outside a bar. Staff at the bar called the police helpline, and Constable Santosh Reddy arrived at the scene. Reddy asked the TSSP constable to wear his shirt and leave, but the colleague refused and became more aggressive. Reddy then slapped him, and the TSSP constable retaliated with a slap. Reddy hit him with a stick, and some locals joined in to thrash the drunk constable. A case has been registered at A J Mills Colony police station against the TSSP constable for obstructing duty and assaulting an on-duty policeman. A notice has been issued to the accused, police said. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Internal disciplinary proceedings under the Telangana Police Manual will now determine the fate of both constables. A comparable case in 2022 saw two Bengaluru cops suspended after a similar brawl went viral. The TSSP constable faces charges under Section 353 of the IPC (assault to deter public servant), which carries up to two years in jail. Constable Reddy, though acting on duty, used excessive force and may face a departmental inquiry. The video evidence leaves little room for denial, the police department's next step, likely a suspension or transfer, will signal how seriously it treats public order breaches by its own. ## Coverage - siasat.com Reports facts from PTI inputs with no editorial slant or commentary.
