A 72,600 square yard man-made lake, called Blue Heart, is being built 35 km from Ahmedabad as part of an ultra-exclusive 100-acre residential estate by Suryam Developers. The project, designed by Dutch firm Witteveen+Bos, is a closed-loop biological system that uses groundwater, rainwater harvesting, and monsoon capture. The Hindu reports the developer aims to avoid the eutrophication that has ruined other man-made lakes in India, such as Bellandur in Karnataka and Bhojtal in Madhya Pradesh.
