# Former UoH student held for ganja supply, names 17 buyers

Hyderabad: Eagle Force and Gachibowli police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old former University of Hyderabad (UoH) student for allegedly selling ganja on campus. The accused, identified as Biswajit Kalita alias Biswa, was caught with five grams of the drug. He named 17 students who he claimed purchased ganja from him. Police are verifying their identities. Earlier, a postgraduate student was found consuming ganja in a hostel and tested positive; he told police he bought 10 grams from Biswa for Rs 500 and has sought rehabilitation. UoH Registrar Devesh Nigam rejected reports that 17 students had tested positive, calling the information ‘factually incorrect and misleading’. A senior UoH official said only two students have been picked up and that it was a regular inspection. The investigation is ongoing.
