# Earthquake of magnitude 4.2 hits Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi

Greater Kashmir reports that an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 struck Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand early Monday at 1:21 am. The epicentre was 10 km deep near the Rajgarhi area of Barkot tehsil. Tremors were felt across the Yamuna valley, including Uttarkashi, Barkot, Purola, Mori, Chinyalisaur and Dunda, sending people rushing out of buildings. Officials said they have collected information from local revenue officers and village heads. No casualties or major damage have been reported so far.
