# Railways announce 5,414 vacancies in two recruitment drives

Hindustan Times reports that the East Coast Railway and the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) have opened separate recruitment drives for a combined 5,414 posts. East Coast Railway will fill 1,421 positions through the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE), including 1,046 Assistant Loco Pilot roles, with registration from August 15 to September 14, 2026. Separately, RRB has invited applications for 3,993 Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent posts, registration from August 14 to September 13, 2026. Both drives involve computer-based tests with negative marking (1/3 marks per wrong answer), aptitude or typing tests, document verification, and medical examination. For RRB JE posts, the application fee is Rs 500, with Rs 400 refunded upon appearing in the first stage CBT. SC, ST, women, and other exempted candidates pay Rs 250.
