# Emraan Hashmi denies playing Mehmood in RD Burman biopic

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has denied reports that he will play comedian Mehmood in an upcoming biopic on music composer RD Burman. In an Instagram story, Hashmi wrote that he had not been approached for the film and was not involved with the project. The biopic is reportedly being produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Neeraj Pandey. The Times of India reports that Farhan Akhtar is expected to play Burman on screen, while Akshay Kumar has been approached to play Rajesh Khanna. Excel Entertainment, which is backing the project, has not yet made any official announcement. Hashmi is currently preparing for the release of 'Awarapan 2' on August 14.
