# EPFO settles 8.3 crore claims in FY26, scraps cheque upload rule

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation settled 8.3 crore claims in FY 2025-26, up from 6.01 crore in the previous year, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje told the Rajya Sabha on August 6. The government said it removed the requirement to upload a cancelled cheque or attested bank passbook for online claims from April 2025. The move has already benefited nearly 7 crore members by reducing claim rejections and grievances caused by poor-quality or unreadable uploads. The details were provided in a written reply to an unstarred question by MP Meenakshi Jain.
