# Erica Fernandes returns to acting after five years, cites business stability 2026-08-20T01:42:12+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Actor Erica Fernandes, known for Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Kasautii Zindagii Kay, is making her television comeback after five years with the series 108 Base Hospital - Uri. Fernandes says the financial stability from her Dubai-based business gave her the confidence to step away from acting and now return purely out of passion. She launched Celeste Media Film Production, a production house and event management company, in 2023. Fernandes told PTI that uncertainty in the entertainment industry, especially after COVID-19, made her rethink her career. She also took a break to avoid being typecast in similar roles. In 108 Base Hospital - Uri, she plays Dr. Major Naina, a trauma surgeon in the Indian Army. The 30-episode military drama airs on COLORS and JioHotstar. The actor, who debuted in Tamil cinema in 2013 and worked with Puneeth Rajkumar, said her experience in the South Indian film industry shaped her acting style. She expressed gratitude to fans for staying connected through social media during her break. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Erica Fernandes joins a growing list of television actors who have diversified income streams through businesses in Dubai, which has emerged as a hub for Indian entertainment professionals. The move reflects a broader shift: actors no longer rely solely on serial contracts or film fees, especially given the uncertain schedules and long gaps between TV projects. Fernandes' choice of a military medical drama for her return is strategic, the genre has a track record of drawing both ratings and critical attention on Indian television. With 30 episodes planned, the show's performance will signal whether audiences still connect with her after half a decade away. Watch for the first-week TRP numbers and streaming viewership on JioHotstar. ## Coverage - hindustantimes.com Straight interview-based report with no editorial slant This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
