Universal Music India acquired a 30 per cent stake in Excel in January 2026. The agreement gives Universal global distribution rights for Excel’s original soundtracks and makes Universal Music Publishing Group its exclusive publisher. Excel Music’s first release will be the soundtrack of Mirzapur: The Movie, scheduled for 4 September 2026. Its lead track, featuring Haryanvi artist Dhanda Nyoliwala in his Bollywood debut, is due this week.
