# Bengaluru hotels inspected: expired meat, milk, fungal vegetables found

Bengaluru food safety teams inspected 26 three-star and five-star hotels on August 7 and found expired milk, meat, chicken, fish, and vegetables with fungal growth. Officials from the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department seized and destroyed over 290 kg of food and 32 litres of expired milk. They collected 35 samples for lab testing. Notices have been issued to the hotel operators, and adjudication proceedings under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 will follow. The drive, ordered by Health Minister UT Khader, covered all such hotels in Bengaluru Urban district. Separate storage rules for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food were also violated.
