Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a probe into allegations that nearly Rs 18 crore is stolen annually from donation collections at Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple. The probe followed demands from MNS chief Raj Thackeray and the temple trust chairman Sada Sarvankar. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde had earlier directed additional chief secretary Aseem Gupta to investigate the accounts. Officials will examine donation records for the past five years and report any significant changes. The temple, one of Mumbai's richest, receives donations from lakhs of devotees each year.
