The men stopped him near Eklahare on the Pune-Nashik Highway and claimed they were investigating a murder and stolen jewellery. They persuaded Patil to remove his 16.100-gram gold chain and 6.300-gram gold ring with a Ganpati pendant. The men allegedly placed the items in a handkerchief, swapped them with fake articles and fled on a black motorcycle. The jewellery was valued at about ₹1.19 lakh. Manchar Police have registered a cheating case and are searching for the accused.
