# Mustafa Zahid missing from Awarapan 2 album as fans favour original

Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid is absent from the Awarapan 2 album, nearly two decades after his songs Tera Mera Rishta and Toh Phir Aao helped give the 2007 film cult status. At a concert in Chicago, Zahid called his exclusion “unfortunate” and said art sometimes suffers because of global politics, while thanking Indian audiences for their affection. Hindustan Times reports that long-standing restrictions on Pakistani artists in India may explain his absence. The new version of Tera Mera Rishta features Saaj Bhatt and Subodhh Sharma, with Mithoon recreating the track and Sayeed Quadri returning as lyricist. Siasat reports that social media users repeatedly favoured Zahid’s original voice over the remake. Pritam, the original composer, is also not part of the sequel’s music team, which includes Mithoon and Amaal.
