A 48-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) for sexually assaulting his 15-year-old daughter, resulting in her pregnancy. The incident happened under the Hozdurg police station limits in Kasaragod, Kerala.
The girl, a Class 10 student, gave birth at her house on July 23. The girl and the newborn were rushed to a private hospital in Kanhangad due to excessive bleeding post delivery. The hospital authorities immediately informed the police.
The police arrested the man under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) charges. The accused, who was brought back from the Gulf, confessed to the abuse. DNA samples of both the father and the girl have been sent for testing.
The father admitted that the abuse took place when he was in an inebriated condition.
The girl has gave a statement to the police saying that she was abused by her father. However, her mother told the police that she was unaware of the girl’s pregnancy. The family, including five children, reside in a quarters.
The newborn is under the care of the Child Welfare Committee, while the girl has been discharged from the hospital after postnatal care.
