The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, will be taken up for discussion and passage in Parliament on August 12, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma said after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said the proposed law would not apply retrospectively. Lalduhoma and Mizoram church leaders submitted a memorandum seeking prospective application of the bill and protection for organisations that stop receiving foreign funds or restructure. They also sought continuity for assets used by schools, hospitals, orphanages and rehabilitation centres. The Centre introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha on March 25. It proposes a designated authority to supervise, manage and dispose of foreign contributions and related assets.
