# Five distributors drive over half of India’s CBG sales

Five city gas distributors sold 55% of India's compressed biogas in 2025-26, data from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board show. The national blending ratio reached 0.92%, just shy of the 1% mandate that will rise to 3% this year. Torrent Gas sold 21.4% of all CBG; BPCL achieved the highest blending share at 4.15%. India currently has 207 functional CBG plants. Separately, the government targets a tenfold jump in production to 5 million standard cubic metres per day in five to 10 years, a senior ministry official told ETEnergyworld. The Rs 23,731 crore GOBARdhan scheme aims to address supply-chain uncertainties with offtake guarantees, stable pricing and pipeline connectivity.
