# Five historic Mumbai stations to get birthday celebrations

The Railway Board has chosen five historic Mumbai stations for a 'Station Mahotsav, Birthday Celebrations' programme. Kalyan, established in 1854, will celebrate on October 9. Karjat (1863) and Khandala (1863) mark their anniversaries on October 14 and 23. Khopoli (1856) celebrates on November 18, and Bandra (1864) in November, says the Freepress Journal. The four-month programme covers 103 heritage stations across India, including Howrah, Jaipur and Darjeeling. Each zonal railway will organise events around station history. The celebrations aim to highlight how these stations shaped Mumbai's suburbs, trade routes and regional connections.
