Saundatti Tahsildar Kalagouda Patil hoisted the national flag twice at Gadad Maradi gate in Belagavi district on August 15 after a rope mechanism malfunctioned. The flag began descending as he addressed the gathering. Officials tried pulling the rope, but the flag continued to come down. Patil stopped his speech, corrected the problem and hoisted the flag again, The Hindu reported. No further disruption was reported from the event.
