# Florida private island hits market for $12 million after 150 years

A 23.32-acre private island on Lake Marion near Haines City, Florida, has been listed for $12 million, the first time in about 150 years. The island, called Bannon Island, can only be reached by boat, helicopter or seaplane, and is located between Orlando and Tampa. The property has a 5,034-square-foot main home that combines an 1880s original structure built by Irish carpenter Patrick Bannon with a modern glass-walled wing. It also includes three additional homes, fruit groves, and native forest. Listing agent Lisa Kleine says private islands in interior Florida are extremely rare.
