Florida teacher Diane Tirado, fired in 2018 for giving zeros instead of a mandatory 50% minimum grade, has lost her legal battles. The Times of India reports that in 2020, Florida's education commissioner brought an administrative case against her, resulting in a formal reprimand in 2022. Tirado's 2022 federal civil-rights lawsuit, alleging retaliation for opposing the no-zero policy, also failed. A magistrate judge ruled the school district would have terminated her regardless of the grading dispute. Tirado is now out of the classroom.
