Former Andhra Pradesh minister and YSR Congress Party leader Seediri Appalaraju was granted conditional bail by the Sompeta court on Friday after 23 days in judicial custody, GreatAndhra.com reports. He was arrested in connection with allegations that he misused his position to divert a hit-and-run investigation involving his son, Arav Varma. The accident, registered at Kasibugga police station in Srikakulam district, allegedly killed a shepherd identified as Danaiah. The Hans India reports that jail authorities had earlier refused YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy permission to meet Appalaraju after visiting hours. Jagan accused the Chandrababu Naidu government of turning an accident case into a murder conspiracy, while authorities cited prison rules. Appalaraju’s earlier bail pleas were reportedly rejected.
