# Four Lucknow artistes get Sangeet Natak Akademi awards 2026-08-13T18:03:32+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards on four artistes from Lucknow at Vigyan Bhawan on Thursday. Ghazal singer Ustad Yugantar Sindoor and Kathak guru Pandit Rammohan Maharaj received the 2025 award; theatre director Atamjit Singh got the 2024 award; and photographer Rakesh Sinha received the 2025 award. Sindoor called it the fruit of five decades of dedication. Rammohan Maharaj, who teaches poor children free, dedicated the award to his ancestors. Atamjit Singh's son received on his behalf; he said his goal is to save Nautanki style from extinction.
