# Four Pune-Lonavala locals cancelled on Sunday for subway work 2026-10-24T18:16:26+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Central Railway's Pune Division has cancelled four local trains on the Pune-Lonavala section on Sunday (25 October 2026) to build a pedestrian subway between Dehu Road and Begdewadi stations. A four-hour block on both UP and DOWN lines from 11.40 am to 3.40 pm will be used to insert RCC segmental boxes using the RH Girder method. The cancelled trains are Train No 99814 and 99818 (Pune-Lonavala), Train No 99813 (Lonavala-Pune) and Train No 99817 (Lonavala-Shivajinagar). Train No 12164 MGR Chennai Central-Mumbai LTT Express, which left on 24 October, will be regulated for three-and-a-half hours. Train No 11029 CSMT Mumbai-Kolhapur Express will depart at 12.10 pm instead of 8.40 am on Sunday. The railway administration has advised passengers to check train status on the Indian Railways enquiry portal or the NTES app before travelling. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The four-hour block on the Pune-Lonavala section will disrupt suburban commuters and long-distance passengers alike on Sunday. The cancelled locals are the only direct trains for daily travellers between intermediate stations such as Dehu Road and Begdewadi, leaving them with no rail alternative during the block. Express train delays of three-and-a-half hours on two routes show that the work affects not just local traffic but cross-country connections between Chennai, Mumbai and Kolhapur. Central Railway has given no date for completion of the subway or any further planned blocks. ## Coverage - freepressjournal.in Straight service announcement with no added commentary or slant This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
