# FSSAI adds 4 law firms, suspends licences in food safety crackdown

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has empanelled four additional law firms, SS Rana & Co, Singh & Associates, Suri & Co and GP Law Chambers, to handle litigation, consumer disputes and legal advisory work. The regulator now has eight law firms on its panel and is handling over 800 cases across the country, according to Bar and Bench. Separately, FSSAI has suspended licences of three food businesses, Narayani Foods & Beverages, Zaiqaa Organixs Pvt Ltd and AB Enterprise, for hygiene failures and non-compliance. It has also imposed prohibition orders and penalties on manufacturers in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka, including a unit selling substandard Motichoor Laddoo and another supplying substandard iodised salt. Inspections in Bengaluru led to notices and a warehouse closure.
