The Gachibowli Hockey Stadium in Hyderabad has been awarded Category-1 certification by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), making it the first and only such water-based synthetic turf hockey ground in India, according to a Telangana government release. Siasat.com and Deccan Chronicle both reported the news on August 19. The FIH conducted comprehensive tests covering field quality, ball movement, surface uniformity, dimensions, drainage, player safety, lighting, and spectator facilities. The stadium met all international standards, including TV3-level lighting for televised matches. No defects were found in turf preparation or installation. The certification is valid until February 26, 2029. Both sources present the certification as a milestone for Hyderabad and Telangana's sports infrastructure, with no dissenting views or criticism reported.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

Both Siasat.com and Deccan Chronicle reported the certification as a straightforward achievement, with no critical or political framing. The coverage is uniform and factual, focusing on the FIH testing process and the stadium's compliance. The lack of any dissenting view suggests broad consensus on the news value. What matters now is whether the certification will attract international tournaments to Hyderabad, which would test the stadium's operational readiness beyond its infrastructure.
