# GATE 2027 applications to open on August 27

IIT Madras has revised the GATE 2027 registration schedule, moving the application start date from August 14 to August 27, 2026. The regular registration window will close on September 27, while applications with a late fee can be submitted until October 5 through the official portal. Indian applicants must use DigiLocker. The exam will be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. City allotments are due on January 4, with results scheduled for March 19. GATE 2027 will add Robotics and Automation as a new test paper. Scores are used for postgraduate, research and PhD admissions, as well as some public sector recruitment, and remain valid for three years from the results date.
