# Palestinians bury 112 bodies recovered from 2023 Gaza strike

Palestinians held a mass funeral in Gaza City on Tuesday for 112 bodies recovered from a residential block destroyed in an Israeli strike in November 2023. The remains of members of the Abu Sharia and al-Hasayna families were dug out of the rubble in the Sabra neighbourhood by rescue teams using hand tools due to a shortage of heavy machinery. Gaza's Civil Defence said 157 bodies from the same strike are still missing. The operation was only possible after a ceasefire took effect in October, which has halted most fighting but not the recovery of the dead. Gaza's health ministry reports over 73,300 people have been killed since October 2023, with more than 8,000 still missing under the rubble.
